Q382 is currently in Willard, OH with BNSF 8231, BNSF 627, both Santa Fe lettered Warbonnets. Should be a daylight run going east out of Buffalo.

Thanks for that, Otto....you can get pictures of the units WITHOUT tresspassing, so puuulllleeeeeeeze, for the benefit of good relations with the railroad, don't take chances and mess it up for the rest of the local community...as of 0800 Thursday 3/25 the units were still there. Don't worry! I pla...

Yes several trains detoured over the B&P and the WNY&P, as I posted earlier. CJ's info is not that reliable obviously. Bridge is open and restored to normal operation. They must have pulled crews out of their rear-end, because they (specifically the B&P) sometimes didn't even have enoug...

Why would NS need pilot crews from the B&P and WNY&P for what was until fairly recently their own railroad down the Buffalo line? They should have their own people still qualified over it, or who would need minimal running time to re-up their qualifications. The Olean-Hornell segment is the...

No trains are going via the Buffalo Line to Olean. 12T and 13T are going via Ashtabula and Conway. This is most likely due to the fact that both the B&P and WNY&P are running as skeleton operations (no crews to spare for pilots and whatnot). No word on CP 254/CP 255 yet, though I suspect the...

Since the signals at VO are newly installed, I tend to suspect that they are continuously-lit (as are most newer signals in general, both at interlockings and intermediate signals). The older NYC signals *at interlockings*, from what I've seen, are lit if something is lined through them...which is m...

It is 8954 - it's out there on a work train. And it is indeed the last true SD45-2 with a 20 cylinder prime mover.

I always wondered about this. Do railroads carry some form of insurance on their physical plant? I remember hearing about how Hurricane Agnes helped in the demise of the EL back in the 70's. Is it the repairs, or the lost freight revenue that cause the financial trouble? -B in B As far as I know, m...

Probably due to the daytime work of a tie gang in Genesee Jct. B791 (the CSX job that works Genesee Jct.) is also currently running at night.

The crew will press some of the buttons on the radio (same buttons as you'd find on a telephone) to key up the dispatcher. On CP, the "beep beep" is acknowledging that the closest radio base (what the dispatcher uses to talk to the trains) heard the train key it up, and the three "rin...

Well, now that they are running the diesels regularly, I'm definitely going to have to see about making another trip down there to shoot them...the 18 is perfectly fine, but I am by no means a "steam nut" and hence after a few trips, it just doesn't do much for me anymore...but we all have...

I don't see what the big deal is, as their 44 tonners are pretty sharp looking units in my opinion. In all honesty, where else around here are you going to find a multitude of these units as can be found on the A&A? We're not talking CSX GEVOs or NS Dash 9s here people...don't take these units f...

Those signals are indeed automatics. Ones to look for would be at GRAVITY (right next to 400 in West Seneca).

It's an alternate schedule of Q161 that runs every week - nothing special.
