I hate to burst your bubble cn9634, but as of an hour ago it was thought the internodal was still in Jackman. Expected in Brownville Jct. around 22:00. Source told me don't be surprised if it hits around midnight. Source was a birdie who flew to my house with the info. I don't hand out names or posi...

Using the GP22ECOs on the Rockland line won't pacify the NIMBYS down there. They'll see smoke from the turbo stacks and "oh, my gosh, the world will be ending". These people won't be pleased no matter what one does. Move and keep the B23-7s down. A CMQ employee has told me they're good loc...

Me thinks that CP realizes that they bought the operating rights to the Rockland line. And I belive CP knows the state owns the property. They're no fools. Unless there's a clause in the contract saying they cannot, expect CP to sell the contract to another carrier. This would require the Maine DOT ...

Anything happen with this rehab? Have heard someone was to get a load of tailings to see if was to be able to use. Did this happen? Heard this was to take place last year, but haven't heard on this board. Anybody know? 10 million for a rehab is a lot of money. Hopefully it didn't go to waste.

The 1950 is, as far as I know is leased. The owner has other units he collects, but it's expensive to move them around. Plus who is gonna lease a 44 tonner. Not much, if any, demand exists for small locomotives in the he industrial sector. Unit arrived just after Christmas. As far as recent photos o...

The 1950 is a 44 tonner. This unit came from th Lowville and Beaver River in New York state. The 50 and 53 are 70 tonners, your guess was good. This winter time will be spent on getting it operating plus the 53.

It should be noted that a railroad needs 100 cars are per mile to be sucessful. At 8 miles should be 800 cars. Wouldn't be sucessful. I would agree it's too bad the deal didn't go through.

N S VIA FAN: love your post. Never knew that schedule was in effect. May have seen it in the past, but don't remember it. Train to Rockland then ferry to Bar Harbor makes more sense. Mr. Wolk: your proposal sounds interesting, but, lets look at reality. Its 139 rail miles from Brunswick to Ellsworth (MEC employee timetable #2, 04-1982). The track from Brunswick to East Augusta is totally out of service. A rail overpass in Richmond has been removed and rail is missing in East Aug...

Believe Thais unit was sold to the Edmonton, AB transit district. Sometime in the 90s. Was used to dump pulpwood into the West Branch of the Penobscot river at North Twin, about 5 or 6 miles south of Millinocket. Way back in the day I got a ride on it, twice, the first time got to run it, they weren...
