Thank you Greg.... Like Rings End I feel that quite a few customers have left in the last 10-15 years... I remember catching the local out of Croton yard servicing Burnwell in Peekskill, Chelsea Lumber and then the scrap dealer just north of Poughkeepsie. Also, had been working around the Sugar fact...

With reading one of the other topics about Marvel Industries in Mamaroneck. I was wondering what current freight customers exist on metro north lines. As previously mentioned, Marvel (New Haven line) is still receiving covered hopper cars. Appears to be maybe 1 to 2 cars a week. I believe the lumber...

I can't tell you how often they get serviced, but I did drive by Marval last week and observed two covered hoppers were spotted at the location, so yes, to date they are still being serviced by CSX...

I have not been out to Danbury in awhile but I thought they had removed the switches and the siding that ran along I-84 by the old fairgrounds. The only switch that I remember still being there was the one to the O and G yard. I believe there was talk several years ago of them bringing aggregate by ...

Happen to be in Mount Vernon last week and went by the Metro North, Fleetwood yard. I know CSX used to service ACE Endico but the siding looks very over grown and looks like it hasn't been used for quite some time. Was wondering if anyone knew if CSX was still servicing them anymore... Also, was won...

https://highlandscurrent.org/2023/03/31/is-lawsuit-next-stop-for-rail-trail/ Read this the other day.... I was always hoping that at some point they would add shuttle service between Beacon and Hopewell Jct. and Southeast to Danbury. I'm not sure if there is anything new with the Southeast to Danbur...

Aside from within Beacon itself I think you'd have to go way back into New Haven Railroad days to find any customers at all on the line west of Danbury. Personally-- if I were making the decisions here I'd hang onto Danbury-Brewster and Beacon-Hopewell Jct. for possible future use. The middle part,...

I just finished reading all of this and am trying to put this together in my head.... So, MTA is cutting HRRC operating rights over the Beacon Line (which I think they last went to Brewster in 2001), and also facing to abandon the Beacon line from the state line to Beacon, correct? And with the CT D...

Re: CSX Croton West Yard - abandonment?

A few years back CSX still had a need for a yard in Croton. Beside using it for interchange with Metro North, CSX still had a handful of customers on the upper Hudson. Between a scrap dealer that loaded in Poughkeepsie in the old CNE yard. They also had Burnwell in Peekskill and Chelsea lumber in Ne...

Putting back the old connection to the Maybrook just north of Brewster(B) interlocking is now a lost cause, due to development on,where the ROW was The ROW is all still owned by the Durkin Family. They own the property that Burke heating, Don's Automotive and the lot on the west side of North Main s...

While I live in Dutchess and would love to see a shuttle service I currently don't see this ever happening, especially between Southeast and Hopewell Jct due to the fact that the state just put in the rail trail. In the area of Metro North's MOW training facility alone there is (2) grade crossings a...

ohh and did I forget to mention that waiting list for parking at Harlem stations is year or more at twice price of parking at Danbury Branch ? There is currently no wait for a pass for parking in the Village of Brewster. In fact a family member walked into village hall and got two passes last week ...

I don't believe this issue started two years ago when Trump got in.... Look at it from a different standpoint. We all see the current state of the MTA and the back and forth between DeBlasio and the other Mayor (Cuomo)…. Any price that they put for a new tunnel and bridge will most likely far exceed...

Supposedly CSX is prepping GE power for East of Hudson freights. CSX dash 8 476 is at Croton West already for third rail plow work. The SD40-2s’ may disappear and retain the GP38’s for switching work. Was curious if CSX has started running any GE widecabs down the Hudson Line into NYC. I just recen...
