Richard, never said it can’t be restored in LIRR Paint! Just don’t have any room anywhere out here unless someone private can hold it, nor can run on LIRR rails anymore!
Not to be mean here, but seriously there is no room anywhere out here for this locomotive to be held, unless you have some private owner willing to hold it on their property here on Long Island, nor even if restored due to PTC can not run out here.
Highest number so far to be in service obviously skipping a bunch is 9123-24 on the east end of a 12 car train.
So I’ve only seen the progress of the third track work in person at Carle Place until Friday when I went to Merillon Avenue to watch the Main Line Traffic, and that station is 60% complete. They still have to add station canopies, elevators, additional walkways, and I believe a ticket office/waiting...
M-1’s are still there!

DM-30AC/C-3’s started direct service between Penn Station and Speonk on both 2737, and 2734 November 8, 1999. FL-9AC/C-1’s started August 23, 1994 between Port Jefferson and Penn Station as Trains 605 and 660. Once enough C-3’s and DM-30AC’s came online, the FL-9AC/C-1’s were retired December 15, 19...
511 was involved in the Speonk derailment last year on Memorial Day weekend grounding it with substantial damage. I guess now if there was indeed engine damage and no parts could be supplied, then it’s a no go.
East of Smithtown, the Port Jeff Branch went full time Rule 261 in the Fall of 1992, so since then, Stony Brook has been like that (Stony 1, and 2), and Port Jeff (Jeff).
Stony Brook after restoration has them and Port Jeff is in the phase of getting them! Pretty much all stations, that we’re renovated will get them as well as all key stations. Not all of them will get them at once, but are in the phases of getting them!
Ok good to know thank you!
Out of curiosity, the New York-Bay Head Directs aren’t running on the weekends this summer! Any reason why? Is it because of the equipment shortage due to the PTC, or lack of ridership? Also, during the weekends, are the shuttles using the ML Equipment?
We at RMLI use just a basic computer monitor for our simulator along with the Train Simulator controls you can get at a computer store!
Hello all! Just a heads up within the next week or two we will have a new computer at the Railroad Museum of Long Island’s GP-38-2 simulator in which I’m in charge of the replacement computer. We’ve been having issues with the one currently with crashing. Please look soon for the updated one with a ...
Hi guys,
I won’t be riding the free trains, but it’s preliminary that I will travel up via ferry from Long Island to do run by shots of the equipment in revenue service along with taking other shots along the Main Line in some areas.
