I am coming out this year to Springfield after missing last year but this time with a slight twist as I am going to be coming in via Boston will have all day Friday to railfan. Now I have done a lot of railfanning into Springfield from NY but not from Boston. I am thinking of chasing the AYMO to Dee...

I will be flying in for the show from sunny California. Since I missed the show last year I cannot wait. Now that I have a layout I have a list of things I will be looking for.

It's a new year and time for an update on the B&SW! I spent a lot of time tweaking the track plan, about 25 different designs for the 5x9 and 16 with the 6x10 so I wanted to make sure that the plan transfered from screen to reality. The best idea I could come up with is to do a full size print o...

There is a few good pictures in "Trackside around Buffalo 1953-1976" from Morning Sun Books Inc. It includes 2 pictures from this line including a going under the airport runway, and the depot at Williamsville, NY.

I love the fact that before the CSX they had the EL. It would have only be better if they went from Erie to EL to CR to CSX.

I actually watched this work at Anahiem last weekend and it worked with the two RDCs they were using. It controlled both locomotives and all signals on the little 4x8 they had. It also showed on the computer the "traces" that the software said that the locomotives took. It kept track of th...

More than just the railing (which could have been added at any time) What hasn't changed much is the valley that the bridge was built. If you look at the picture from the tmny the valley is relatively flat, where in the Kinzua Viaduct none of the ground is that flat. I know because I have walked the...

I agree with what has been said about people putting others down because they don't think what they do is good enough. This is the "Worlds greatest hobby" because of the large number of areas that you can focus on depending on your strengths. Where is it scenery, operations, planning, rese...

I knew I should have locked this thread earlier.

Well now that there is no cat, there is no reason for the cat vs HO train thread.

Right now the best place to look is the NMRA convention website that contains the information about clubs that are going to have an open house during that. http://www.nmra.org/2008/index.htm Also if you are around during the the 13th of July there is a layout tour that is organized by the Model Rail...

I don't really understand what is being done here. Short lines work with the class 1's to send out and receive cars for the companies they serve everyday. What is the difference between this "Empire Link", and the way cars are usually handled? If you read the story this agreement focuses ...
