Welcome back to the area! I can not tell you where the station was in West Seneca, but I can tell you that Lackawanna was a part of West Seneca until 1909 or so. So having that in mind I would think that the stations were one in the same. When you head out to shoot some pictures if you head past Con...

Congratulations to the CMRR on such a monumental weekend with Thomas. By any chance were the participating businesses that accepted the "railroad bucks" Chamber of Commerce members? If they were, that is a pretty slick political move since they are aligned with the Republican party and Mr. ...

Looking at Google Earth it doesn't look like there are any potential online customers. Is or has transloading ever been out of the question in order to generate a customer base?

Having a football stadium on the east side would be a horrible idea for more than just security reasons. However I don't think there is anything to worry about soon especially since a majority of our elected officials are anti-new stadium. There was a lengthy write up in the Buffalo News this mornin...

I live in OP and I wouldn't mind seeing this abandoned corridor turned into a rail trail. I agree with many others in the belief that having a maintained r.o.w. may deter people from doing illegal things and be a buying/selling point to certain people. Not to mention, I wouldn't mind walking or bicy...

Charlie,
I think the NYS fair stopped using Strates last year or the year before.

Nice shots. I always look forward to seeing the pictures you post. BTW if Chuck Schumer gets his way all tank trains will be like this one!

The old Fancher Chair factory that stood next to the WNYP tracks burnt four years ago this past May. It's sad to see another relic of a bygone era disappear to neglect. Thankfully the old BR&P station still stands and is still occupied across the street from here. The Salamanca Press had a nice ...

What happens this winter when those flimsy dividers are knocked down by a plow or two and someone runs the gates? If the town is going to have a silent zone with some kind of lane blockage it should be a little more rigid. But like everyone else on these boards, I also think if you don't want to hea...

I did a little bit of digging around on the website for the Moon Brook Country Club and stumbled across a couple of books recalling the clubs history, in one of the books it mentions an old railroad right of way that ran through the golf course before the construction of rt. 17. Here is a link to th...

For the spur in Jamestown, it looks like it ends where the country club now stands on RT. 60. I'm not sure if that country club was there when these maps were drawn out but it may be a step in the right direction. Mr. Art Audley or Mr. Dave Becker may have some more insight as to where this spur led...

I stumbled across this article yesterday and my first thoughts also went out to the train crew. Even though we talk about it every time a train hits a car, I don't think many other people realize that the train crews see this collision coming on and they usually can't do much but sit there and wait ...

You would be surprised how long these those types of things last, especially when they are tossed in the weeds and not disturbed. In Jamestown for example, I have found ties in the ground from the original Erie grade before the grade crossings were eliminated and that has been 80+ years! How about d...
