Again, considering the acrimony between North and South (basically Italy) about funding, and the fight between Germany and the ECB about court control, I ask again, will the EU still exist for three more years, and what would be the result of a break-up of the EU on the European railway system? Idea...
If they so vote, must let Northern Ireland and/or Scotland go. Still have the question, will the EU still exist in 5 years? Multiple States have doubt about remaining, with growing discontent. Do not know future of rail, if this happens.
Perhaps it is time to figure out whether there will still BE an EU in five years. Sam
Sir Edward Watkin organized the GC. See the Wikapedia entry concerning his plans: "For Watkin, opening an independent route to London was crucial for the long-term survival and development of the MS&LR, but it was also one part of a grander scheme: a line from Manchester to Paris.[1] His ch...

Well, that settles that. Brexit means no Brexit. Case closed. Sam

I walked this line (19 miles as the crow flies, 24 if rail route is followed, which I did mostly)...It took from about 5 AM til sundown, in early Oct 2005. If you get to the UK, you couldn't find a more rewarding hike! Lovely people, and wonderful vistas of the sea along the UK east coast, especiall...
