Train #4 (departed L.A. on Sunday, Dec 6th) was delayed over two hours outside Lamy (actually in Ribera, NM) for EMS to attend to a male who suffered what was to be a fatal heart attack in Car 0430. EMS worked to revive the unfortunate soul for about an hour before giving up and calling the medical ...

Passed WIL on #20 today an a quick count was 14 toasters lying about.
Is this the norm now that the Sprinters are coming online?
BTW, #20 got a Sprinter today WAS - NYP. Was told it was 610 but couldn't confirm.

Both 29 and 49 were about 7 hours late into CHI today.
Trains 3/5/7/21 all seemed to leave before the eastern arrivals.
Does Amtrak ever bus passengers from Elyria of South Bend to connect at CHI?
Seems to me the misconnects must cost a small fortune.

SHAME ON NS!

It seems that South Bend - Chicago has been the problem recently. This is only 83 miles of railroad. Are there reasons for this, i.e. construction, rehabilitation, signal problems, etc? Or is it the same old freight interference and lousy dispatching? I also have a cross country trip scheduled for t...

Five hours to travel 85 miles is pathetic, too bad the South Shore doesn't run to
the Amtrak station any longer. The passengers could have transferred and saved three and a half hours.
NS meltdown to be sure - all too often.

Anyone know why 49 and 29 were about 7 and 9 hours late into CHI today? Maybe the schedule and/or routing of these trains should be rethought. Their abysmal on-time record is making the Cardinal the train of choice from the East to CHI. I would love to know how many hundreds of thousands of dollars ...

Caught 617 at Metropark this evening at 6:30pm.
Amtrak 159 was running 50 minutes late.

Amtrak 5 (of 9/5) reportedly into Salt Lake City appx. 26 hours late.
Problem seems to have occurred after Provo, whatever it was.
Is train being annulled at SLC?

Both 29 and 49 were almost six hours late into Chicago this morning (afternoon, really.)
Any cause other than the usual "freight congestion?"
Were 3/5/7/21 held for connections?

Schedule has been pretty good recently.
Any reasons given?

I was on Amtrak 449 from BOS to ALB Saturday August 2. At about milepost 177 (Chatham) dispatcher called engineer: "I've got good news - they're going to bring you right in today." Sounded cryptic to me - does anyone have any idea what it meant? Also, at ALB station are they adding another...

In 2007 there was a proposal to institute this freight service down the Chemical Coast Line, over the now OOS Raritan Industrial Track (which passes over Route 9 and thr GSP) and into Raritan Center. Did this plan die (or was it ever alive)? Haven't heard a word about it since. Mike http://www.rarit...

But seriously, many thanks to all of you who took the time to respond.
