Re: SouthWest Service Move to LaSalle Street

Those viaducts are for MOW to be able to drive up there. As for the third track? That will be an Amtrak only track if anything.Thats who is supposed to be putting it in place. But till it happens, I wouldnt worry too much.

Re: More Illinois Trains

Never heard of that with the short train theory. Funny the Kankakee local can drop the gates just fine with 2 cars ;) But I digress. The gates timing is set by the FRA. If you are going to run x speed those gates have to be down by x time.

Re: Illinois Amtrak Service

News flash. CNIC will not be playing ball with Amtrak. Durbin and a few others are already talking of routing the trains on the Joliet Sub over the Rock. Not to mention they are starting to blather about " High speed rail" over that section of the Rock.Dont know how and dont know where the state is ...

Dickies carpenter jeans. I have pairs that are finally breaking down that I bought for Freight service in 2010. They hold up to abuse and you have plenty of pocket storage.

Re: Train signals for CSX

What everyone else said. Just relax and learn them for the location you need to! Dont go reading it on line and try to memorize that. It could be wrong and signals are one thing you can never be wrong on. When I worked for the IC&E we had to be able to write it out word for word. Thats a great way t...

Re: Norfolk Southern Chicago Yards

From what I have seen, yes you will stay busy and yes you should be working . All depends though on how many people are above you. If you get bumped, what yard you are at etc etc. I can tell you its a mad house at the intermodal yard at Englewood ( duck when you hear gunshots ) and Landers looks to ...

Just saw the post, how did it go? I think you nailed it with what you said here. Not afraid to do dirty work and odd hours. We have a few ladies on my little streak of rust that cant hack it. Sounds like you will be able to.

Re: Metra's Use of Rule 6.30

To the topic of passing a train in a station. Unless there is a high platform ( like the entire MED district or 35th and Gresham on the Rock) or intertrack fencing , you must not enter a station if another train is stopped there. Now we just re did 80th ave last year with a tunnel and intertrack fen...
