I'm not sure if NJT maintains any Comets to 125. The MLV's can do 125 to Trenton, but Trenton schedules (especially the expresses) are 100% MLV's these days. NJT stopped intermixing trainsets after the 2nd-gen MLV's arrived; it's all-Comet or all-MLV in regular practice. So if any Comet II's & ...

Blue Hill Ave approved for $16.97mil, opening 2019: BOSTON -- The MBTA's Fiscal and Management Control Board (FMCB) today approved a recommendation of MBTA managers to execute a contract for construction of the brand new Blue Hill Avenue Commuter Rail Station between Blue Hill Avenue (Route 28) and ...

They're not bound to it since these are options. If the CRRC's stink they're not going to go through with replacing the 18's and they will about-face to RFP for a rebuild of them before the 15/16/17 replacements are totally at the back end of their options. It's just if the new cars are (hopefully)...

The most significant problem is car width. The OR/BL cars are narrower than Red, which means you would have to redo all of the platforms on at least one line depending on how you would be standardizing. Car length is another issue, but less critical. The car lengths actually work out that an 8 car t...

I believe I began seeing those stickers just prior to the OL incident. I think it's just the timing and the gradual addition of the stickers that make them seem to follow the smoke incident.

Does this include doing the much-delayed cab signal + PTC installations to the 1600-series cabs so they no longer have to be bottled-up exclusively north? I'm sure it's not helping this mix-and-match game of desperation to still be hamstrung by classes of equipment that are non-portable across the ...

I didn't see the pictures of the interior, but I understand they are no longer going to have "carpet" seats but orange plastic instead. I like the carpet seats as you stay in place when accelerating and braking. With plastic seats there will be too much assliding. Hopefully they can use t...

The only known varient of the BBD ML I were the cars modified for the short lived NJT ACES service, now modded back into commuter coaches. They could run on the entire NEC. The ACES cars were barely a variant; the only difference from the "standard" NJT cars was the interiors. The only rea...

Great that they're moving forward on this. Hopefully there won't be any additional major failures (we all know how that goes...) before they can reinstitute some of the already deadlined units so that they can boost available numbers before the option contract is exercised. Of course, hopefully they...

Providence & Worcester Work Leasers

P&W B40-8's 4001-4005 are being leased for use on work trains. 4003 was picked up yesterday and should be at BET, with the rest of the units to follow shortly. Not sure if the lease is being handled by the T itself or if by Keolis. 3249 has been out for a while, and apparently both 3247 and 3248...

Hmm, no weekend service? Does that mean that they'll still only operate the trips with the bike/ski car on weekends to Fitchburg with shuttles picking up the ski passengers there, as they have done in the past? Wachusett (Mountain) tweeted about the new station opening making it easier to get to th...

Took a day trip to Portland yesterday on 691/698, and the trips went pretty smoothly despite the busing. 691 was about 12 minutes late into POR, mostly because it took a while to get 4 busloads worth of passengers onto the train at HHL (and I think at least one or two of the buses left BON late). Th...

Aside from remaining signal work (and any additional punch list items), is there anything else of significance remaining (other than the obvious crew qualifications) before service can begin? Can we likely expect service to start before the end of the year?
