Yes, MacTraxx is correct. The other three competitors in the redevelopment plan competition do not move the RMLI to new quarters. One other developer has suggested a science or children's museum for the first floor of the new building. It is unknown to me what the other two developers have planned. ...

MACTRAXX, you hit the nail on the head! Good reply, very accurate. Nothing is written in stone yet, the competition is in "process" with the Town of Riverhead. PArk 7 Group LLC must win the competition first and then the approval process for their proposed redevelopment of the area around ...

PlaneLoverA380, The three passenger cars will never move in revenue service. They will always be static display cars. We occasionally open the two stainless steel M1's to Museum visitors and they are frequently used for film and video projects. The P-72 has had its electric circuits switched to &quo...

PlaneLoverA380 and all Gentle Forum Members, the Railroad Museum of Long Island has been weathering the storm of 2020. Forced to close in March, we were unable to celebrate our 30th Anniversary or our award of an Absolute Charter from the New York State Education Department. All of our special event...

Gentle Readers, It has been fifteen years since this thread has seen life, I think a little news on the Defiance Coal Company No. 1, aka the "Kit Carson," and now known as the "Roy Dunwell" is desirable :-) I am pleased to inform all that the No. 1 has undergone a 1472 day, (or f...

jhdeasy, Yes, the routing was New York & Atlantic (Riverhead to Fresh Pond) to CSX (Fresh Pond to Oak Point to Selkirk and then on to Utica). There was never a discussion about having a rider in the car. We overhauled the brake system to current standards, did the COTS and repaired the rusting s...

No Troopers, I think you're missing my point as an East End Country Boy.
