That fare pretty much limits regular ridership to business travelers whose companies are paying (which, admittedly is probably a fair number of convention center visitors). But it'll be badly overpriced for a connection between the airport and SunRail.

The current project to widen I-4 between DeLand and Daytona includes space in the median for high-speed rail. That could easily be used, at least temporarily, for a SunRail extension.

The argument that the surviving lines were paralleled only by *toll roads* -- or sometimes, no expressway at all -- whereas the lines which died were paralleled by freeways -- seems to have a lot of merit.
