Re: Rumford Branch, RUPO / PORU

Inbound loads would be outbound empties unfortunately, would be my guess, unless it was in a pool car that could reload for a new destination..

The new track panel for the Main Street South Paris crossing is all built, and the concrete crossing panels and rubber inserts have also arrived on site.

Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

I was talking with the owner of ML&M this winter after he removed the tubes from the 501. He said most of the boiler looked good at quick glance, but also noted there were some half a**ed repairs done by someone that thought they knew what they were doing. Putting patches on what looked like almost ...

Re: "Up North" Gawking (District 1 sightings)

I have heard rumors that the Rumford and Riley mills are gping to be serviced by someone else. The mills own the tracks, so instead of paying Pan Am to switch, they are going to pay someone else. Could be NBSR.. And maybe they will switch Old Town too.. Pan Am will still tun the RUPO and PORU trains..

Re: ADMIN NOTE: Grade Crossing Safety

Yes, all the driver training in the world does not prepare you for a call of an injured or worse infant. Luckily I have never been in that situation. I can easily understand why the officer made the decision he or she did because, as I said before, seconds count. There is also no need to put others ...

Re: ADMIN NOTE: Grade Crossing Safety

Their judgement call. They were in a hurry to reach the infant. Any one of our first respoders, myself included, could have very well made the same decision. Seconds count. Hopefully the infant made it.

Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

Not sure there was ever a siding there called Colemans, but this is what is left, with the roadbed going between these two points undisturbed by Coleman, then continuing south. The bridge was not wide enough.

Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

Rudy retired, Gordon is all but retired. Some guys with steam experience are going to put together a training program to teach up and coming firemen and engineers to learn how to run the 7470.
