Hi,

Did the Reading end at West Catasauqua or did it use the Lehigh Valley or L&NE track to get to Allentown and the yard outside of the Iron Triangle?

L&HR 20' HMR hopper cars

Hello,

According to a 1940 L&HR freight car roster, the railroad owned 100 cars that year. 2/3rd of these were 20' HMR hopper cars. An acquaintance of mine and I are not clear what these cars were. Does anyone know anything more about the 20' HMR hopper cars?

Hello,

Does anyone know which type(s) of ballast the LV predominantly used on its mainline between Easton, PA and Mauch Chunk (Jim Thorpe, PA) during the mid/late 1920s to the early 1950s? In other words, did the railroad use cinders or stone as ballast?
