Hello all, From what I gathered the following stations are planned or under construction. Windsor Locks, Coatsville, Parkesburg, Downingtown, Rhinecliff, and Charlotte. I have heard that MARC was supposed to do Aberdeen. As for Westerly and Mystic, they can be done but the stations will have to be m...

Hello all, I had read in Amtrak accessibility reports that 24 stations were going to be converted to High Level Platforms. I believe Tampa was recently done as was Middletown, PA. I was just wondering what other stations are going to be converted? I guess Rhinecliff and the new Newport News stations...

I looked on the Amtrak website for September and shows both KC-STL trips in the system but does not show a through routed CHi to KS train via STL. I will be on the Lincoln and River Runner in June and as of right now it is also not a through train.

After looking on Google earth again, following the VGN line, there is an open field right before the line goes into the tunnel under Rt 460. They probably could put the station there. Now here is a very crazy idea. Too bad they couldn't extend the service up to Bluefield and beyond to Ashland and Ci...

Hello all, Now I am confused. I heard that the Christianburg station is going to be built near the aquatic center? After doing a google earth search of it, it looks to me the aquatic center is on the N&W line and not the VGN line. It doesnt make sense to me why the state would buy the VGN line o...

Hello all, I remember in the 90s when railfanning the Worcester main there were 4 trains in each direction. SENE, SENA TV95 and the rack train (forget the symbol). I remember in the 90s all 4 trains would follow each other maybe 20 to 30 mins apart. Now in regard to the P&W. i wonder if they cou...

From what I have heard the Siemens cars are going to replace everything on the San Joaquin trains and the bi levels will go to the other CA services. I do have a question, sine Wisconsin North Carolina and Washington have gotten federal grants for new cars , are these to be ad on orders to the exist...

Hello all, Isnt part of the plan to redevelop Union station to include a hotel right in the station area? That would make an overnight transfer very easy. I would love to see 50/51 and 48/49 completely flip their schedules. Ex 49 would leave NY at 9pm, and 50 would leave Chicago at 645am. Daytime se...

Charlottesville currently has the 2nd highest ridership among Cardinal stations behind Chicago, I wouldn't want to put them in the graveyard shift either. I'm also not a fan of "parking" the train overnight anywhere. Why make a horribly long trip even longer? This is the schedule I had in...

Hello all, What about a complete reversal of the schedule. Lets say leave NYP at 545pm. Would get to Charleston at 734am. Cincy at 1236pm. Inday at 5pm and Chicago 905pm. Reverse, leave Chicago at 645am. cincy at 427pm. Charleston at 921pm. etc. Would give daytime service from Charleston to Chicago....

I think that the Kennedy Space Center is the world's most accessible spaceport ( List of rocket launch sites - Wikipedia ). Most others are in much more out-of-the-way locations. It's like airports but much worse. The closest town to the KSC is Titusville, with population 44 thousand. It's also on ...

This unit has been re=repainted all blue. It appears that upper management flipped out when they saw it. I dont know the whole story but it was pulled into the roundhouse in Morris park and repainted blue overnight on 2/28. When I saw it today is was all blue, no yellow.

Here is a crazy idea. I would have a train leave NY about 10pm or so it would arrive in Roanoke about 7am. Then keep going not only to Bristol, but to Knoxville, Chatanooga, then either to Atlanta, or Huntville and Memphis or Birmingham and then Meridian, Jackson, Shreveport and Dallas. There are pl...

I think all Amtrak shuttles should be extended either to Boston or points north. Leave the rest to the commuter trains. Maybe even offer through ticketing too.

This is waaaay outside of the Hampton Roads thread, but hear me out: if there are so few riders south of Atlanta, split the train at Birmingham and run to Memphis. I bet that would have a lot more traffic, both from Atlanta and direct from the NEC. Mods: please, feel free to stick this in the Cresc...
