This tire has been on display in front of fire station one for over sixty years. Pacific Electric Railway had there main shop in Torrance and it was owned by SP. Live about a mil...

Re: Amtrak stations where 70 mph fast freights run?

Davis CA might just work. Freights are 30 mph thru the station but that is only about a half mile stretch. 70 MPH is freight speed on both sides of the station on the former Southern Pacific mainline. Twenty passenger trains stop daily in Davis. Very nice downtown home to UC Davis. Two bridges east ...

Re: GE Export Diesels

How easy is it to change the gauge on the GE U6B, U10B and U11B. It seems that at least five different gauges have been sold of these models. Are the trucks all the same with the wheels just pressed in our out. Could these trucks be similar to the trucks under the US Army MRS-1 locomotives with all ...

Re: Railroad Atlas

I like the books by SPV Steam Powered Videos. Sixteen volumes on the USA and four for Canada. Have heard that they are not going to print any new editions but most are still available. The Pacific Northwest seems to be out of print. Would like to know what the future is on these books. Note these at...

Re: Worst abandonments

In Washington the old SP&S BN route land ownership went back to the original land owners. It would be very expensive to put back in. This info from other RR forums.

Metrolink contracts with County of Los Angeles Sheriff Office for law enforcement on all trains in the five counties. The old SCRTD did have it's own police.

Re: UP Trains Collide in Goodwell, OK

The Southern Pacific from the 1950's thru the 1980's installed red nose warning lights on almost all locomotives. These lights came on during a emergency brake application. Would this type of signal help save some lives with a earlier visual warning to the opposing train crew by allowing an earlier ...

Sale results

The auction closed today. The roller bearing unit sold for $28,000.00 . the others $29,000.00 $29,000.00 and $26,000.00 . My guess is this will leave in small pieces.
