62 mostly empty well cars on the eastbound today at Greenville, plus 62 manifest cars.
Interesting, the Barcelona Express container ship which just visited Saint John is now headed to Montreal.

Here is a video of the shops from a drone. Looks busy. Note the flaring of residual fluids from the cars.
Video was posted in May 2020.

So it would seem the port of Montreal is size limited for shipping, and as larger container ships replace smaller ones due to economics, the Port of Montreal will be left out in the cold? Are they not planning a container port at Quebec City, and if so, would that be able to handle larger ships? I a...

Due to the length of Pan Am freights in and out of NMJ it would appear that CP is still carrying freight connecting Pan Am with the Irving railroads, Eastern Maine. Or is the Mattawamkeag branch reactivated?

Clearly the primary source of business was the GSA steam plant at the end of the line, coal was the primary source of fuel. The yard at the end of the line also was used for lumber distribution. There was also a bakery in Georgetown that received grain loads.

Yes, that the Bow coal plant exists is surprising in some ways, but not in others. Since New England won't allow natural gas pipelines, there remains a need for reliable energy back up for peak periods of energy demand, in deep winter, and the hottest summer periods, thus the need for a plant like t...

Customs will be a problem at the borders, the MM&A trailer train came to an end because of it. Don't expect the Arctic shipping route to open anytime soon, the Northwest Passage didn't open last year, too much ice. The amount of Arctic summer ice has been holding steady the past decade. In any e...

You are correct, it wasnt Sherburne, it was Earlville! Good catch.

I attended Colgate University in nearby Hamilton NY 1976-1980 and took interest in the line then.

I visited the Sherburne station in the late 1970s, a local resident commented that there was a derailment on the main somewhere and long freights were diverted to this line, said one train had UP engines and sparks were shooting from the wheels as the train struggled up the northbound grade. That mu...
