The two M3 sets in Long Beach took a trip somewhere earlier this week. I'm guessing to Hillside for an inspection? Are there any other M3s on the railroad in standby mode?
Will there be a farewell trip like there was for the M1s?
There was at least one set down here in Long Beach. I think it was moved yesterday morning because I heard what sounded like a M3 horn from my apartment.
Stopped by Lead yesterday afternoon to check out the new signals.
Thanks for the replies! I'm guessing the new signals were cut over this weekend?
That's great to hear that manual block has been eliminated! I suppose this will make broken rails on the branch less painful.
I took a trip on the LIRR this past weekend for the first time in over a year. I noticed that new signals were being installed at Lead interlocking. They were still bagged, so I couldn't tell what type they were. I swear they had two heads, but I could be wrong. Are they installing RAS? I can't find...
Around 1:30 pm today, I saw 2 MP15ACs pulling about a half dozen CSX gondolas westbound off the Garden City-Mitchell Field Secondary.
I saw the FRA/DOT amfleet(?) test coach tonight laid up in-between two MP-15ac next to the Jamaica protect engine. Anybody know what this is about it? Is it a test for Amtrak service out east?
I'm almost positive it was this car: https://www.fra.dot.gov/Elib/Document/2158
Saw the train set tonight (9/19) leaving Long Beach as train # 869. It was my first time seeing them in revenue. Hope they get assigned to my trains soon!
The lead set (9808-9807) for the train I took home tonight had new fiberglass ends on them. Anybody know if they're doing this to the entire fleet or just ones that are heavily damaged? Also, does anyone know if this pair was involved in an accident that would warrant the replacement? I did a quick ...
I just read the opening paragraph of the report and found no mention that ignoring a dark signal is a violation of the rule stating that a dark signal is to be regarded as displaying the most restrictive indication possible on that signal--if that rule had been observed, the train would have been p...
I'm surprise the FRA hasn't banned the use of headlights being used in lieu of marker lights on trains after this accident.

They just announce the track like normal. I know you can walk straight through to the NJ Transit concourse in at least of one of the LIRR corridors. I'm pretty sure that I've boarded a LIRR train at least once that way.
Hey why not? Other railroads do it. I can only assume they these stop signs are for the trains.
