Re: Last Station Built New Before Amtrak?

Did construction at Metropark begin pre-RPSA? If so, might get a honorable mention.

Does anyone know what the build dates are of these cars? I think the first two were built in 2017, and the rest in 2018?...
Pilot pair 9001-9002 2015 build. MTA board meetings reports have the cars built 2015 and undergoing testing at Kobe 2016.

The Zephyr, Crescent and Chief can be seen on the high density lines, but still lacking passenger service on the north-south Cleveland-Louisville-Nashville-Memphis corridor.

Re: SEPTA NPT card will be "SEPTA Key"?

The difference between NYCT Subway and SEPTA's Rapid Transit Lines is that the station clerk's booth sits away from the turnstile line in most if not all NYC Subway stations as compared to the cashiers booth right at the fareline in Philadelphia. There is even more vigilance for farebeaters with th...

Poor man's route to JFK: E/F to Union Turnpike-Kew Gardens, then Q10. $2.75 MetroCard, $5.50 cash (no free transfer) Poor route to Teterboro: NJT 161 bus to U.S. Route 46 and Industrial Avenue, $4.50/ $2.05 reduced. (lower cost and more frequent than train, also one seat ride) YYZ: (2) Bloor line to...

Re: Amtrak plans train service to New York State Fair

Minor correction: Delaware State Fair is at Harrington Raceway, not Dover. Still right on the NS main line on the Delmarva peninsula. Vermont State Fair is in Rutland, with a terminal and wye nearby. Wouldn't be too hard to add/drop a car off the Ethan Allen. California's fair is in Sacramento, at t...

Re: Amtrak plans train service to New York State Fair

Can’t quite get to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds either, though you’re within a mile of the old St. Paul Midway Station that does still host private cars. NJ State Fair (in the Meadowlands last week of June/early July, not related to the other state fair in Sussex County/Augusta) is right on the ...

By the way, what was the purpose of that cord running above the advertisements? Was it to a communication bell?
Many buses and trolleys had these cords to signal the operator for a flag stop when a passenger requested to discharge (get off), did any Class I railroads have such?

New York state now has to get in line with everybody else to get cars from Siemens, most likely after Amtrak's order.
BBD and CAF already can build full stainless shells in state (Plattsburgh and Elmira). NYS has a "made in NY" incentive program (see MTA for examples).

Re: North Carolina NCDOT-Amtrak Piedmont Service

Assuming the older refurbishment dates are an indicator it would appear that the KCS cars will be replaced. They seem to have developed a preference for St. Louis Car Company units built late in the legacy era. I was actually quite surprised to see "Pullman-Standard" as a builder with cars in activ...

Except for the Exhibit train and a few Heritage Bags used in company service,Amtrak is DONE with the Heritage fleet! Of course, Metroliners in service as cab cars are PRR/PC heritage. Caltrans has Comarrows (PC/NJDOT/NJT heritage) and NCDOT has 1965 heritage coaches (KCS & UP) and combines original...

Re: New stations built after Amtrak started

Cherry Hill (CRH) seem to be an anomaly. Built new 1994 under Amtrak auspices, turned over to NJT in 1995 when NJT extended the AC Line to 30 Street from Lindenwold (NJT did not carry passengers west of Lindenwold until 1995). If Cherry Hill Township ever had passenger service it would be in the ver...

Dunkin makes better coffee than Starbuck$$$$ fu-fu crap! Subway bakes bread onsite and uses fresh veggies daily.
I would prefer Panera, with better coffee and more upscale bakery items, through might not be possible to fit a full size location (with full bakery on site) in a railroad station.
