The pay rate wasn't quite what i was looking for. The extensive travel wasn't my cup of tea either so i took a pass on that particular opportunity. My preferred job is AC, which was just posted for Chicago so i am going to make another go of it. Wish me well...

Unless the process changed from the interview i had last year for LSA, you will go through a similar process as described above. The math test for LSA was built around speed, there were a large # of questions you had to answer in quick succession. It was basic math, but far too many to answer in the...

To anyone so inclined, IRM will be unveiling former CB&Q Sd24 504 completely restored and backdated to her Q dress. She'll be the center of the Diesel Days festivities at the museum this weekend. This project has taken nearly 7 years and thousands of man hours to complete. I have had the pleasur...

Well the romance was short lived. The CNW Dash-9's have returned to action on the UP and have left the IRM property. They will be back for Diesel Weekend.

There are several paints on the market that come pretty close. I would suggest checking out the Rock Island Technical society's website and email discussion forum for more answers. Those fella's have all the RI info you could ever want. In fact, I believe that is where Athearn has turned for paint m...

As a quick post script, wouldn't 2009 be the end of their 15 year equipment trusts? They were built in 1994 so the math is right... Hmmm. I would be shocked to hear of their retirement, but an interesting prospect to ponder :-)

For those interested to know, the last pair of unpatched C&NW units, Dash9's 8646 and 8701 are currently being held at the Illinois Railway Museum. The duration of their stay is unclear. However, it is likely they will remain on the property stored serviceable at least thru Diesel Weekend in Jul...

How about the morning rush and afternoon? Thank you in advance, i look forward to seeing her back in service.

My dad, who works in Northbrook near the CP tracks reports having seen an f40c in service yesterday? I know 614 was moved from Western Ave in to the shops recently. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

With a little research i found an Ex-KBS RS-11 in nearby Darrow as well as former Erie Mining RS-11 7205 in Watseka. There is also rumor of Pioneer Industrial's former CNJ RS-3 in Peoria? Can anyone confirm or deny the existence of these locomotives? Thanks again!

Does anyone know if former Monon c-420 513, now MALX 1330 is still in and around Pontiac Illinois? I know it was there as of last spring. I'm planning a trip out that way when the weather breaks to document what i can while i can. While we're on the subject, any other ALCo's of note in the central I...

So, on this first day post-ej&e i was interested to know if anyone has heard anything regarding the J's locomotive fleet? I would imagine the new Gary rr will retain most of the fleet as the vast majority of the traffic originated and terminated on the lines not sold to CN yes? Thanks for the in...

There remains an SW-1 sitting outside the DeBruce grain elevators in Plainview Tx as of last spring (2008) that retains it's RI Maroon and Yellow. The paint is peeling badly and has revealed the as delivered black and white scheme underneath in places. It was obviously patched at some point during i...
