After Hurricane Agnes in '72, no more passenger trains traveled the City Branch. At the terminal, there was always a gondola (often with trash in it) and sometimes a switcher on track 13. The branch was basically used for hauling out trash.

Note that originally in 1836, The Norristown and Valley Railroad, before it became Chester Valley Railroad, branched off of the Philadelphia, Germantown & Norristown Railroad, just South of Norristown Station, crossed the Schuylkill into Bridgeport on a different bridge and ran as far as Henders...
The Pennsy line was double-tracked, to just North of Manayunk until 1979. Barmouth Station had a tiny parking lot, a tiny shelter and was barely used before closing in 1986.
