Acquired a couple of checks for a freight shipment of hay picked up from the Owens, Delaware station of the MDV in 1920. Not sure how clear the writing will come through when I post the images, so I'll type the text: R.J. Clendaniel Lumber and Timber, Dealer in Oak and Pine Mine Props and Piling R. ...

http://www.wboc.com/story/38594900/no-more-trains-south-of-hallwood-on-virginia-eastern-shore ONLEY, Va.- On Virginia's Eastern Shore, many are mourning a loss. But not of a loved one or a friend, but a piece of history no more--trains. After Bay Coast Railroad ended it's train operation in May, fo...

Still nothing going on in the Ellendale section, although I've noticed the posts saying there's work being done in Milton. There's a few closings planned in the coming weeks for repairs on the NS section heading south, but nothing on the spur to Milton.

There are quite a few industrial parks in Delaware, however, not many in Sussex County. It's always been a largely farming region which has transitioned over to tourism on the east side, which leads to a pretty poor county economy. Lower paying jobs and fewer of them. Now New Castle is a different s...

I just ask one question about industrial park things at all. It's not that, it's that I could not understand what you were saying at all. I'm assuming you're asking about what is going to be at the industrial park? If I'm wrong, let me know. They don't have any tennants scheduled for the location y...

County Council has approved the industrial park... http://www.wboc.com/Global/story.asp?S=10586934

Looks like they may be getting some new customers on the line after all. Glad Ellendale & Milton have not officially requested anything from the state for turning it into a trail yet.

We ended up near Marydel, MD. We started heading in the direction of Smyrna, DE after that and I noticed some tracks paralleled the road right next to us for awhile. After 1/2 an Hour and still following the tracks somewhat, I noticed a yellow, abandoned, PRR-style station sitting just off to the r...

Did the Milton spur ever run past Milton or did it always stop there?

The Ellendale-Milton line is now pretty much falling apart. A lot of the ties have rotted away, there are numerous large trees over the lines, and the lines themselves have been covered over in numerous places by debris, stones, etc to the point the lines themselves are basically slightly below grou...

Still nothing new about the Ellendale-Milton line. Both town councils, Ellendale and Milton, are interested in having the line abandoned to create a trail. I'm all for getting rail service through there, however, without any customers on it there's no benefit to them and certainly no reason for pass...

The Ellendale Town Council has gone to the state and DelDOT in an attempt to turn the Ellendale-Milton line into a greenway trail, hopefully a part of the Atlantic-to-Pacific American Discovery Trail. Here is a link to the town's Comprehensive Plan http://stateplanning.delaware.gov/comp_plans/ellend...

I'm new on here, but thought I could give updates pretty easily if anyone so cares to ask. I'm on the Town Council for Ellendale and live next to the railroad tracks (it's our woods the tracks cut through). Still no service on the line from Ellendale to Milton, in fact there haven't even been any ca...
