To the best of my knowledge, R/S has not talked publicly about abondoning that stretch of track to M & F lumber. Yes, the crossing flange ways are paved over and even being OOS hasn't been talked about. So, I guess for the immediate futue it's just going look neat and tidy to drive over.

I just went over the Dewey Ave crossing and orange signs were being posted that the crossing is going to be closed during next week. Looks like CSX is finaly getting around to repairing the crossing.

Having been stopped numerous times at both the Dewey Ave and McCall Road crossings since the ballast work has been done, I have noticed the speed of passing trains has increased. Not by much and I don't have a radar gun, but they are not going 5 to 10 mph like they have been. A person would have to ...

This morning I had a front row spot at the Dewey crossing, waiting for the MOW equipment to scoot across, so after the gates went up I pulled over and took a few shots. Apparently, they had some operational problems because a maintenance crew showed up and started working on the alignment mechanism ...

?? Were they side dumps, or ballast hoppers? Loaded? The cars must be ballast hoppers. They had chutes along the side edges and they appeared to be full. I didn't think about a car that actually tipped to the side, but rather the ballast leaving the car from the side, unlike the common coal hopper ...

At 10:00 this morning, roughly 30 side dumping ballast hoppers headed north over Dewey Ave. That's a fair amount of ballast to be applied somewhere!

My understanding about both the Dewey Ave and McCall Rd CSX crossing repairs is it came from neighborhood community outcry. Can't say as I blame them, both crossings are in awful condition. I just wish Rochester Southern would either repair or remove their crossing on Dewey. Oddly enough, the R/S cr...

The MOW guys are busy assembling the new section of track. I assume, given the size and weight of the section, it will be put in place with a crane.

It looks like CSX has started its task of crossing repair on Dewey Ave. There are roughly 48 ties lined up. Obviously no trains will be going to Charlotte until the repair is done.

Thank you for your input, roadster. On-site assembly makes sense. I'm looking forward to smoother crossings. I just wish Rochester Southern would do their part.

Going over the Dewey crossing this evening I saw a stack of new ties on the south side, as well, so something is in the works.

I heard through the Barnard neighborhood grapevine that CSX may be doing some serious grade crossing repair in the near future. Today I saw a sight that may confirm that. (picture attached) On the north side of the McCall road crossing, about 25 new ties have been stacked beside the tracks. Can anyo...

Earlier in the week I had my scanner on in the late evening and heard a unique call from the Charlotte runner that they were in the process of pulling empties from Kodak. Whoever was making the call was asking the receiving person to contact security at Kodak and tell them that the chain link gate a...
