Rotem junk won't last 20 years. We're almost a quarter of the way there and they seem fine. Have many blown traction motors or had any major traction issues besides cosmetic things like latches? The overall experience for riders is a huge improvement over the former and existing fleet. I still have...

I don't want to become "that guy" but does anyone have any intel on if and where 664 will be tomorrow and Wednesday. I'm off and hoping to catch it.

Thanks.

Ex Budd Man, is it still likely 664 will testing on the West Trenton Line tomorrow? If so I may go camp out at Woodbourne since I don't have to get to work until 2:30.

Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing they have the second wire train now for the PRR side so these comments don't apply to the one at Wayne Electric. I believe the RDG side wire train has been working on the West Trenton Line extensively for the installation of the 3rd track, but I've also seen a photo of it at West Trento...

There's a container transfer facility at South Philly so they're put on trucks or carted over to the port next door to be put on ships. I don't think there are any container trains that originate either in South Philly or Eastside Yard that go west on the Philly Sub at the moment. There are a coupl...

So, really this is becoming the wodbourne line with a single track west trenton branch? What will happen to the wire over the south track of the bridge? I was excited about all of this, but now: disappointed. SEPTA still has two independent tracks all the way to Yardley. Only the portion from Yardl...

Just recently CSX finished their undercutting project allowing double stacks to operate straight through Philadelphia, so now there are no regular trains that will need to use the Wood Connector to access the NS Morrisville Line. So it is really done? and in service? No more double stacks on the Hi...

The second parallel crossover makes it possible for inbound and outbound SEPTA trains to move through the interlocking simultaneously, so it will likely be a benefit during rush hour when train volume is high. CSX use of WOOD interlocking will be minimal now. Just recently CSX finished their undercu...

The ACS-64s are capable of pulling 14 Amfleet-type cars at 135 mph, or 18 cars at 125 mph. You don't need that for 7-car SEPTA trains at 90mph, even to get them up to speed. So? A typical Northeast Regional consist is 7 or 8 Amfleets, so no major difference than a 7 car SEPTA Bomber set (and this i...

The Catenary needed by the Acelas is long gone,Believe CSX would never allow catenary structures on a mainline used by Double Stack Intermodel trains! In fact CSX Double-Stack train Q190/191 runs under wire in SEPTA territory in two separate places in the Philadelphia area along its route. After le...

I'm not really sure what you're trying to ask as far as the first questions goes, but I would assume its set up like any other interlocking. As for the second, there is no Jenkintown wye. It was torn up decades ago I believe, possibly before the SEPTA era.

Which trains on the time tables can be expected to be of the lengthened variety (12-14 cars, as those may be the ones we see an ACS on)? Last year Amtrak 194 (NPN-BOS) was 14 cars and hauled by a pair of AEM-7s. It was also an hour late through the Philadelphia area. I believe all the VA trains ten...

On that note, how complete is 9001 then? I'm sure all the electrical components and running gear are removed, but are the interior and pantograph still there? I doubt the museum would have the money or manpower to do it, but seeing 9001 get polished up or even restored to her Reading appearance woul...

-blinks- The wires over the delaware bridge are high enough for double stacks? News to me, never ever seen double stack train anywhere along that line EVER. There's the bridge just west of langhorne station, not high enough, the one right next to woodbourne yard, not high enough. I see people keep ...
