Corvette plant in Bowling Green

by dhaugh ¦  Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:23 pm ¦  Forum: CSX Transportation including Pan Am ¦  Topic: Corvette plant in Bowling Green ¦  Replies: 4 ¦  Views: 4029

This summer I toured the Corvette manufacturing plant in Bowling Green KY & noted that while there are tracks running past behind the plant, there are no apparent tracks into the plant. Does CSX load Corvettes elsewhere at all, or is this all truck business? Same for inbound loads?

I'm not sure why CP doesn't use it, but I can speculate. Since PGR does the switching up the MNS from Northfield (and east to Cannon Falls), all CP has to do is bring cars to the Northfield yard & doesn't CP own that part of the Spine Line anyway? I always forget whose track was originally whose...

The exMN&S Minnesota River bridge hasn't been used for a few years when the TC&W was using it to access the Savage grain ports. I think it's been out of service since about 2006. There was some recent bridge work reported on the MNRail chat group, but that it wasn't for the resumption of tra...

Chesterfield, MO

 by dhaugh ¦  Fri Apr 20, 2012 7:11 pm ¦  Forum: Midwestern Railfan ¦  Topic: Chesterfield, MO ¦  Replies: 1 ¦  Views: 3537

Staying at a hotel (the Doublte Tree) in Chesterfield, MO in a couple weeks & mapquest shows a track running nearby. From maps I've dug up it appears to be the old Cotton Belt/Rock Island that runs along the river. Is that still intact & see any traffic? Thanks.

Central Wyoming

What & how much traffic does BNSF send on it's route in the middle of Wyoming - through Casper etc... and how much (if any) of this was part of CNW's Riverton extention?

Ft. Collins Street Running

I've read that there was or is some ex C&S street running in Ft. Collins, CO. Since I'm going to be visiting there next month, I thought I'd find out if that's still used, as well as what sort of traffic density/type of traffic I might see in Ft. Collins in general. Thanks, Dave

Tropicana to California

Several years ago, I believe CSX & UP were testing a juice train of some sort to L.A. Did that meet with Tropicana's approval & is still running?

I don't know about train frequency, but this sounds like the route I asked a question about on the CN forum. Was this a former GM&O route? And, if so how did it end up in UP's lap? I ask because the latest issue of trains has an article about CN getting trackage rights to run a more direct Chica...

I have a couple questions about lines south of Springfield that have kind of confused me - esp after reading the latest issue of Trains magazine. First - the article talks about CN getting a more direct route from Chicago to St. Louis by using NS tracks. But didn't they once have a direct route thro...

Not sure of it's origin, but I believe there is a privately owned one at the Siouxland Historical Society, which is located at the former Milwaukee Road shops near Sioux City , iA.

What I'd be interested in knowing is if all of the episodes were taped within a single time period. Just curious - I mean how long can any RRer get away from their day job? I enjoyed it, especially the reefer train episode - even my wife will watch it despite all the times I bore her with my hobby. ...

I was in Terre Haute last summer & I think I know the track you speak of. I passed it more than once as I tried to make my way to Bloomington from TH, but ran into detours. I assume you meant the town of Riley, not Riely, which is southeast of Terre Haute, however I'm not sure what Springhill ha...

Military bases/RR's in the midwest

I've been poring over some new Delorme maps I picked up of Wisconsin, Illinois & Iowa, and have found a few military bases (preseumably) that I hadn't known about before. I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on what these are/were called and if they're still in operation, and then anything...

More about "The Milwaukee Road in Minnesota"? Well, it's been a few years since I've read it, but John Luecke is a well-known hobbyist/flea market presence in the Twin Cities area. He used to own a store "Como Shops" in the complex of the same name in St. Paul. Now I think he wor...
