honestly regret that I lack the financial resources to acquire and preserve one. Yeah, it’s really too bad, they do look cool.Awhile back someone contacted me about trying to save one of the unrebuilt ones up in NY for a static display, possibly on the high line. I told him if he had$50,000, for a ...

My guess is if it's a NNEPRA train, It'll be an existing DE trainset. I can't remember If there's hotel power in Rockland or not....

Three cheers for Rockland branch seasonal service! Probably only weekends-only, but still... coupla issues in running in Class 2 territory b/c of fixed timing grade crossings & very few w/gates (well maybe some 60mph running, still has a good surface), dark territory east of Cook's corner, NO st...

Is F40 406 a functioning loco or just an NPCU? I thought it actually pulled the exhibit train at some point. Just wondering as it does not have the 90- prefix numbering...

Are powered P42s permitted to lead into the headhouse of North Station now? A recent trip revealed the NPCU on the east bound (north) end. Time was the MBTA always preferred cab cars/NPCU's lead into North Station to lessen fumes, and I can't believe the DE would turn before going in. Ops practice c...

10 mph restriction at Forest Ave. (and a few other crossings in Portland) have lingered for months. Any plans to fix those? There's some info on that over at the Pan Am thread under DE trackwork & upgrades. I'm not sure that crossing has seen any major work since the late 1990s single tracking ...

Post the ad, then immediately take it away.
Well, that's just great. My hopes for perfecting Ozzy's 'Crazy Train' (as an acoustic version w/ high falsetto in preparation for The Voice audition) in exchange for train swag have been shattered. Thanks for nothing, NNEPRA.

Is there any plan or study for direct service Montreal-Boston? VT seems to be the most logical routing, as the planning for a Montreal-Boston train via ME is still in the science fiction stage. With continued SPG line upgrades, are there plans/provisions for a connectiing train at Springfield?

I think the DE receives a significant portion of it's funding thru the EPA CMAQ program, currently zero'd out in the Trump budget. That said, 3/4 of the congressional delegation are ardent DE boosters, Poliquin being about as indifferent as Lepage about the service; I doubt it would go down without ...

there are indications that the crossing signals on the Rockland Branch have a fixed timing that only allows for freight speeds. I'm not 100% sure about this last part but every indication is that they do not have Predictive Motion Sensors which can time the crossing signals based on train speed. Ye...

For the record, I'm not in favor of privatization. Even the best case scenario looks unattractive to me if it means separating operations from infrastructure.

I would prefer seeing Trump appointing members of the Amtrak board who are in favor of IPO/privatization (something the GOP would support). After all, isn't it fitting for "America's Railroad" to have an IPO? Privatize what, exactly? Acela (maybe some NEC regionals, maybe Auto train) is t...

So when the time comes to build build build new rail infrastructure don't doubt that he would push hard for at the very least critical projects (Gateway, bridge replacements, etc.) and other proposals such as high speed rail. He'll be pushing hard against the vehemently stated platform of the curre...
