I forgot to mention the rail is new 136RE from Steel Dynamics.
The rail train is tied down at Westford with MEC 7643 east tied on. As can be seen in the attached photos the rail cars are set up to drop rail from east to west. I assume the next M426 will pick this up and take it to Maine.
M427 crew ran out of time at Hill yd. about 08:30? today. At 13:48 M427 was given a Form D WOR 1 to Burncoat.
D1 then told them " there will be a live recrew at Still River, and a taxi will take you to Burncoat to pilot M426 east."
Last night a CSX rail train came up the Worcester Line in to Ayer, D1 asking them to call clear of MP1 so he could get the M426 following him moving. No idea on the rail destination.
Seen on yesterday's Chester railcam M426 looked like it had 10 more gondolas of ties plus 3 cars of what looks like 78 foot rail. A You Tube video of the train through Clinton from Northeast Railway, rail at 1:10, gondolas at 1:34.----- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPyWabIooyM&t=3s Off topic ...
I know I'm guilty too, but why are we using this topic for CSX MOW activity, there is no more PAR MOW activity.
Posts about present MOW activity should go here------https://www.railroad.net/csx-track-upgr ... 74313.html
At about 05:45 D1 was in conversation with M427 about a pickup on the Clinton siding.
If this is your first encounter with PD I'm surprised considering your "gawking" hours.
I have seen two M426 trains on the Chester railcam in the past few days each with about a dozen gondolas full of new ties.
About 15:45 L-059 is back from Ayer going through Graniteville with what looked like 50 cars +/- including a few OYMA's.
Doing some work at Westford . It seems to me 2 hour turnaround from Westford to Hill Yard and return is pretty good.
In what has become a Sunday routine L-059 is doing the CSX/B+E shuffle today. At 13:15 D2 gave L-059 with the MEC 5933 49 loads 14 empties ok on signal indication WB at Graniteville . 13:34 Littleton detector no defects total axles 292. B+E instructed back in at Moore's for IM-3, picking up on thoro...
WB geometry train through Littleton detector about 16:20 no defects
At about 15:50 L-080 EB coming from Ayer got a high load hit at Littleton detector, 280 axles more or less, D2 told them they will hold at Westford for wb geometry train so they can check high car there.
Passed Littleton detector at 12:55, no defects 540 axles---- -I think B+E said "down IM-1 recrew." B+E dispatcher is a fast talker.
For anyone interested a rare daytime M427 on Stony today. At about 09:30 D2 in conversation with M427 about moves at CPF NC (Chelmsford)
I think it is almost decided on a day to day basis with what needs to be moved and what crew is available. A common question heard by crews signing on is "so what's the plan ? "
