Odds are Gramp didn't get a mention because then they'd have to pay him for the appearance. And he'd likely be eligible for a SAG card as well.

So he was just an extra. Not that he didn't get anything extra for the appearance, but he's not eligible for residuals and the like.

The Utica show appeared to have a good turnout. The vendors I talked to were happy with the day so far.

There is a similar culvert at Onekio (H55) - stonework walls, rail roof. Don't think we got a date off the rails, but probably similar.

I don't think it was a cattle pass, although there's plenty of room to walk through it.

It was a good trip, if long, despite the slippery rail.

Haven't been to the Massena show for several years, but they seemed to have reasonable attendance today (Sunday).

The Tupper Lake trips have taken a hit as a result of the heavy rains. There was also a washout south of Thendara, but that's apparently being fixed, as the railroad will run out of Thendara on Thursday, per my information.

In 2009 I attended the big steam event at Owosso, MI. On Sunday, 765 had subbed in for 1225, which blew a flue, on the all day trip. Of course, there was quite a crown waiting for the train's return. Most folks got into the photo line so they could get their shot. Not one guy, who was standing close...

Conjecture on my part - perhaps there's a backpack around there somewhere with ID or other items that could be used to identify him. Or a vehicle, now abandoned. Or perhaps he's one of the new crop of bindlestiffs who like to ride trains and happened to hop off to get a few pictures. One would think...

There will be trips to Tupper out of Thendara, at least weekly, and one full trip from Utica to Tupper per month, maybe two per month in the fall.

Work around Tupper isn't set to happen until later in the season, which could affect those trips.

It's reported that the two defect detectors previous to the derailment saw rising bearing temps, but not enough to trigger alarms to the train. Utica show was pretty good, from what I could see. It was packed with vendors, and packed with customers when I got there around noon. Picked up several items, including a Pere Marquette Adlake lantern.

Now to prepare for the trip to Springfield...

It says Sullivan County, but it resembles Cadosia, in Delaware County.
