Re: G Train terminal.

I recall hearing or seeing that the D originally went to Church Ave, before the original plans, (extension of the line south via FT. Hamilton Pkwy) were abandoned, and the line was grafted to the elevated Culver line. I can't personally attest to that scenario though. I do remember Express F trains ...

I thought the original poster was referring to number of trains actually in customer service, (running down the road), at any given moment, at different times of the day/night. Oh, and while dated 06/28/09, the page that BMT/IND link goes to was incorrect as of three days later, 07/01/09, with the V...

No offense, but I hate the r32 and r40 I like the r160 the most because it is the newest fleet and is on the F line. The r160 has an automated voice and its a WAY smoother ride the r32 is noisy, a rough ride, and u can barely ever hear the conductor. Go r160s! :-D R160 has 1good thing: it TAKES OFF...

The MTA notice that the link refers to indicates that the G train extension to Church is for 4 years. I've read in this forum that it's indefinite - subject to ridership levels. Can anyone explain the discrepancy ? Discrepancy? The MTA official word is four years, (also stated on the service change...

I don't know about you, but on the older trains, if the speaker is even loud enough for me to hear the announcement, all I hear is muffled feedback ridden uninteligable junk. ??? I find most PAs on NYCT trains are pretty good, though there are exceptions, but usually limited to indiv cars, not the ...

Found this (and 2 others like it) on the LAST page of the NYS railfan forum, due to a reply by "guest" on Wed Dec 31, 1969 7:00 pm?? Maybe this reply will bring it to the the first page of the list?

Edit: I see it worked! (the other two are still at the end)

Let's also not intermingle LIRR's Training Department in this. For many years, NYA has used their own personnel to train their employees. This includes general safety, Book of Rules, air brake, etc. The only thing LIRR does is administer their test. If poor training of the employees is an issue, th...

Right next to Paraco, is an old siding with several cabooses on it. Can anyone shed some light on them? Heritage? Current ownership?

The crews don't have police radios, obviously. If the crew needs assistance, signalling for Police enroute (L-S-L-S) is one way, but calling control and being governed by their instructions is the procedure. (They'll request police response.) If it's a situation serious enough, or a medical situatio...

The transfer could be at 7th ave ( G would have to be extended to Church Ave) or Bergen St. although the latter would require climbing stairs from/to the lower level platforms . Jon Lower level Bergen street platform are apparently permanently removed from service and are a huge mess. It's doubtful...
