Watched a NY&A Freight today heading west out of Deer Park powered by 2 GP38-2's and it occured to me that most of the trains i've seen lately have been powered by GP38-2's or MP15ac's. I haven't seen 300/301 in quite awhile. Have I just been missing them or are they used for specific jobs?

Heard the Strasburg RR is going to build a freight yard at Leaman Place. Can't seem to find out any information about it.

163 and 168 with a string of gondolas with a small tracked excavator riding along the top of the gondolas moving slowly east on the original main just west of the Deer Park Ave overpass. Following very close behind was a hi-rail equipped crane.

172 with a string of gondolas with an excavator in one of them, on the original main facing west.

165 & 157 dropping ballast on the original main between Wyandanch and Deer Park Ave.

160 &168 on the head end of a good size concrete tie insertion train sitting on the original main between Wyandanch and the Deer Park Ave. overpass.

A couple of questions. Has the NY&A acquired all the MP-15ac's from the LIRR? Which engines have been sent to Altoona for rebuild? Does the NY&A plan on acquiring the SW1001's? Thanks NYA owns all 4 MP15ACs. They only have 1 SW which I'm sure will be given back once the new engines come in ...

Something I've never seen before. MP15ac/GP38-2 with 41 cars eastbound between Wyandanch and Deer Park followed apx 5 mins later by another GP38-2/MP15ac pair eastbound with 9 cars.

150 and 152 sitting just east of Wyandanch Station with a empty welded rail train.
