Re: Finger Lakes Railway (FGLK) Discussion - 2014

RSD15, The ITT facility is the Goulds pumps manufacturing center. While NYC maintained trackage into the facility years ago, the Fingerlakes merely just has rails by the plant. Update on power as well: 3124, sister unit to 3126 is now sitting on the Phelps Sungas spur in Geneva Yard, with what was r...

Re: Private equipment collection at Colonie and Glenmont

Even if the owners of the equipment did sue, CP is a multi-national corporation. It's kind-of obvious who would win that court case. Only company that would have had a chance in saving any more of those alcos would probably be D&L down in Scranton, but obviously they expressed no interest, so maybe ...

Re: Want a piece of the Hojack swing bridge?

As much as I wanted to explore the span when I was younger, with no feasible means to get to it, it was difficult. It doesn't surprise me to see the span's end, and in a way, i am in favor of its removal...

Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Units.

This may be Far-Fetched, but wouldn't it almost seem reasonable that these units get assigned to NS tracks that are of those railroad's Heritage? If not the general area. Makes sense to me at least.

Re: Ontario Midland Railroad (OMID) Discussion - 2012

Oh wow, so the train does frequently go to Ontario once more. Great news! When was this new Biodiesel plant built? I'd imagine sometime in the last 4-5 years. (Been that long since I was at that 84 Lumber)

Re: Car spotted in Webster/Ontario - OMID new customer?

http://binged.it/uH88T5

That is the location in question. I knew it to be 84 Lumber for the longest time. Plus, I havent been up that way in quite a while. I just remember that siding being very overgrown, then all of a sudden, its trimmed, neat and nice, and theres a tank car parked on it.

Re: Save LV 95100! (Cabooses of Manchester)

@BR&P -- Last I was told from my source on the inside was that it was believed to become razor blades and Toyota's. If another group is surmounting an effort to rescue it, god bless them cause they would have a long road ahead in restoration. Even if the Lehigh Cab wasn't of much significance, I'd s...

Re: Save LV 95100! (Cabooses of Manchester)

Warren,
The other caboose, was in sad shape. The majority of the windows were smashed in, and the door was easily accessible. Most of the woodwork on the inside was well rotted out. It is a bit gut wrenching to say, but I can confirm this cab will be cut up for scrap.

Re: Save LV 95100! (Cabooses of Manchester)

Holy cow, you guys made some progress! I am impressed! In terms of paint however, i honestly like third and final scheme with the stripe. Don't get me wrong, the as-delivered is just as nice, but with the stripe, it'd flow oh so much better with 211 and her scheme.

I have no money to donate now, but when (Not if anymore :D) makes it home, I'll definitely help in bringing this one back to her glory. This caboose has a very special connection to me and it means a lot to get it back. :)

Re: Cabooses of Manchester.

Alright, I'll shed some light on this story too. I worked for Marty at the Old School. The building was to become an Antiques/Consignment "mall" with artisans and a whole bunch of other business ventures inside. Ambitions ran high, but money ran short. Sadly, the Cabooses were some of the first thin...

Re: LV Mile-Marker Story, Question, Opportunity?

I'll have to look around in the area next time I am up in Manchester. I work up there anyway so it shouldn't be too much of a hassel. And as for those Bees, a can of Brakeclean from any area autoparts store does the trick. ;)
