Thanks for the replies. One follow up question: does this transit system require tickets/or card stock tickets to allow you passage way through turnstile both entering and exiting the stations?

Is there any specific location within the station complex the Thruway bus boards? such that either the Jackson St or Weller would be closer?

I have an upcoming connection from the Sea-Tac airport using the Link light rail to Amtrak's King street station. I don't have a lot of cushion on this so I need to make the walk quickly and with little confusion. Am I correct the the light rail station I need to exit is China Town? Can anyone descr...

OK would you explain what Tap out and Tap in is exactly? I don't live in the city and don't commute often, usually a few times a year. I know people have been mentioning a key card, but I don't know what those look like. It is anything similar to the paper stock cards, it looked like a flimsy credit...

I think it was Neshaminy Falls station. I was staying with friends and they drove over to the station to go to a concert. But I also noticed the device on a NEC station a few months before. But my train arrived before I had a chance to investigate.

I am an infrequent rider, however at some Septa station I have noticed a new free standing electronic console near the platform. It lacks any real info as to what it is, or at least I have noticed while walking by. I have not had time to test drive it yet. What am I seeing, ticket vending machine, p...

Auto-Train car set out. Obligations and remdies?

I saw a report yesterday that the Auto Train had to set an auto carrier off en-route. While I am sure this is somewhat rare it has to have happened before. What is Amtrak's obligations and remedy for this problem? Provide taxi's for the passengers effected to get home? Even if that is hours away? Do...

Newark platform patterns and PDFs on NJT.com?

I have a trip upcoming where I will be arriving on a NJT NEC train from the south into Newark Penn and changing to a southbound Amtrak on a Saturday. How are the platform patterns typically used? I will be arriving, I would guess, on an outside platform. And needing to change to southbound Amtrak pl...

Gilbert Norman, thanks for that Chicago piece. That is to far and dated. But I noticed you mentioned the Southern Crescent. I know a fan that use to do that dinner to Alexandria. Over the years I lost the details, I did not realize you were able to board in DC and dine there as opposed to riding fro...

I actually had thought about riding the Cresenet to the meeting point and turning back for a breakfast as well. Your idea of round trips is pretty good.

I don't see the Crescent or the Meteor very often, are these all new Viewliners now? I guess no conventional diners still run?

lordsigma12345 thanks you seem to get what I want. Its been 10 years since I last took one of the long distance trains. I take it you are saying they will seat/reserve sleepers first over coach? I have to admit I was only reading about this diner thing casually until I thought of this idea. I have r...

Is that contemporary meals the dreaded box meals? If that is the case that is not a consideration.

Other possible options would be to ride Crescent south to it meets the NB and return. That would allow two meals, but would require one to be up all night. I could do the same with the Meteor to Richmond. I have yet to look to see the latest northbound out of Richmond/Frederickburg, etc. Am I correc...
