Heh, I used to have to transfer at Fordham for a Harlem local for the 1 stop ride...not a walk I liked to make at night by myself whilst the other half was still at work when I was coming to visit him...always wanted to do a tuck and roll when we went by BG since I'd always have to wait about 15 min...

That's what 14th street is for. 34th Street was designed to distribute passenger loads between the express and local...not to facilitate transfers. Oh, and you know...you could use one of those countdown clocks that they so kindly have sprinkled throughout the A division...especially by the turnstil...

RMNE preserving a toaster...that's another comical proposition.

The 929 preservation petition was created by a 13 year old who doesn't know what resources would actually be involved in preserving a motor...so I would take any proclamations made in that with a boulder of salt...

Please do enlighten us on your apparent insider information about why the Danbury Rail Museum would want a toaster...

are they moving it to better neighbourhood ? Absolutely zero difference in quality of surroundings...about all the move would do is make it easier to get a sandwich from Nardelli's before getting on the train. The approximate area they want to move the station to is not level to any parking...I wou...

I can't complain about that - as long as it's some place decent...the lack of decent restaurants that aren't Italian/Pizza in this town annoy me. Either way, I'm glad it's seeing some semblance of maintenance rather than rotting away and left to be demolished...(ie what happened 25 miles north in To...

And if you want to comment on sparcity of facilities. Beacon Falls wins. Lowest ridership, literally a bus shelter AND...the sign doesn't match any other NHL sign!

You're probably not, Jeff likely screwed it up :D If you look at some of the *old* facilities on the Waterbury branch it's not as awful. For example, the Naugatuck station building was designed by McKim, Mead, and White (as well as several other buildings in town like the library and old post office...

Don't forget, this is the same person who proclaimed that all of CDOT's P40s were getting scrapped because they bought the 4 NJT ones...

Also, he hopes to replace coaches and locomotives on the Waterbury branch soon. Breakdowns are common due to the age of the trains, causing temporary bus substitutions at least several times per month. Eight year old diesels are old? On what planet? Especially when P40s are older...and I really don...

there are hopes of reviving service on the line though many here are scornful of the effort. I attended a meeting a year or two ago in Falls Village (a bit north of Kent) pertaining to the revival of passenger service along the route and some selectman from Kent said something along the lines of: &...

No all people will eat down there waiting on the NH line. Example my family, 2 full pizzas up the block at lex and 45th for $16 vs spending $50+ on 6 people downstairs last time we waited for a train on lower level. Congratulations, your family saved money by buying cheap pizza up the street. Plent...

I'm glad to hear they're planning on building a new Charlotte station. The current one is a dump and not in the best of neighborhoods.

My parents weren't particularly thrilled about having to pick me up there when I took the Carolinian last year.
