They were planning on retiring them a year ago, but changed their minds and decided to overhaul them instead.
When I went directly to the vending machine to buy a day pass ($2.50 senior!), the lady Wackenhut guard immediately approached, "Can I help you, sir?" I did not have a chance to study the machine, as she punched the buttons for me. I inquired about photography. "You can take photos o...
I was there earlier this year, but I only took pictures in the downtown area. Nobody said anything negative.
No one barely rides the gold line as it is. They shouldn't get "express" service at the expense of more worthy projects such as the green line to LAX, the downtown connector, the purple line extension, etc. People will actually ride those lines.
The fare gate study was voted down so no fare gates or distance based fares in LA anytime soon.
That email sounds like a specific persons interpretation of the official policy and the meaning of parts of it aren't entirely clear. If they have specific rules regarding photography they should post them on their website to clear up any confusion.
I forgot to mention that I think that both of these ideas suck! Especially since the main reason for the fare gates seems to be worries about terrorism. Well they are probably deputized as Pennsy said, but as a matter of policy they seem to avoid conflict. When I've seen them deal with unruly passengers they will ask the person to get off the train (so they can give them a ticket) but if the person refuses they don't even argue. They walk away, call...
Hi, Just got back home with the LA Subway, the Red Line. No, the only crew member on board the train is the motorman. He operates the train, the doors and makes all the announcements. Security is a separate issue. From time to time, you will see security guards, armed, get on board. These are deput...
As part of Measure M the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is buying approximately 50 new cars and a dozen or more new locomotives/cab cars so that they can introduce 30 minute service throughout the day to the Orange County portion of the line only. (IOW the trains will not go all the w...
