Some good news... after reporting that it was scrapped on Facebook, the former owner popped up and said it was sold to someone that's moving/restoring it for use as an office. Yay!
The transformer will be unloaded at Hazens for its road trip. Arrangements are still being made on its final leg of its journey, so there's no immediate timeframe available right now. Best bet is to keep an ear out for any NHDOT announcements about road closures.

Clarifying some points made recently. - Matt I assumed the quote meant that the track was already "good to go" or just about, and the $100K would cover everything else, but this is my speculation! The line from the Granite State quarry to Muzzy Hill Road, Greenfield has been maintained to ...
The Wilton Scenic Railroad was an LLC. Wouldn't be surprised to see a reincarnation done the same way.
No sign of activity at Hazens at noontime today, I figure they would stage all day for such a load. No idea where it's headed either, the substation in town doesn't show any sign of preparation for new equipment coming in. It's not headed to Whitefield Substation - going to another station in the a...
I lied.... I did have an image of a depot with a similar design. Saugus station on the Saugus Branch. So whoever guessed Eastern was spot on. :-D Matt http://www.nashuacitystation.org/resources/9304014950_sm.jpg http://www.nashuacitystation.org/resource/9304014950/" onclick="window.open(th...
Definitely, I see it... very reminiscent of Salisbury. Typically there's a couple stations on the railroad that share similar architectural features. For the images I have in my collection, nothing is coming close to what was originally posted. I'm going to throw my vote in that it's south of Boston...
Just sharing a similar image to what was originally posted. My image was also marked CT River Main Line... good to have the confirmation of its location!

From what others have told me (haven't seen it in writing anywhere), NEGS's Granite State Railroad operation ran from the parking lot on Foundry Street. The platform is still there.

Just heard back from Gary. He's been busy (as we all have been), but confirms it's a technical issue and the site is still alive and well.

I think my heart just skipped a beat when I saw his site didn't come up. I'm trying to track down the email address I had for him.

Greetings all,
The SW9, #1423 is stored on the siding at Greenfield, which is located off of Slip Road. There's actually a "road" that spins down by the tracks... Depot Road.
Peter never owned any other motive power... just the SW900 #901 for operation and the #1423 for parts.

One business I failed to include is Pike Industries quarry just railroad-north of Granite State's quarry. One reason it slipped my mind is that Pike has utilized rail service in the past. Guilford had trackage rights up to Pike to haul ballast loads out to send over to the seacoast for the track reh...
Addressing and adding my 2 cents on some of the comments, curiosities, and lingering questions made in this thread... The Bennington Paper Mill was the last customer on the line beyond Wilton in 1986 when Guilford's labor strike hit. Because of the strike they switched over to trucks, and despite a ...
