Re: Double track through Dover, NH

If you look closely as you drive by Madbury Metals, you will see the rails from the old siding next to the driveway, ending in the treeline before they reach NH 155. To answer the previous question, the crossing on Portland Street next to Blue Seal was double track until NHN did modernizations in th...

That can't be right Citron. All common-carrier rail service to and from Alton Bay ended in the late 1920's. The B&M abandoned the Lake Shore route north & west of Farmington before the Great Depression. He may have ridden RDCs on the Northern Division from Laconia, but definitely not from Al...

SURE TO BE CANCELED LAST MINUTE DUE TO SOME TRIVIAL REASON!

What a mockery of such a great and fabled branch. You'd be better off going to a friends' backyard live steam track, or joining a railcar club. Ten minute rides? Really?

Not to mention you canceled your big, Halloween train that I considered taking my nephew to. The color will have gone by in two weeks. It's October, it rains. Not to mention it's supposed to be nice Sunday. Is this a tourist attraction or not?

This may be the longest thread about the shortest scenic line in New Hampshire. I haven't visited the forum in a few months, and it was an entertaining if not confusing read.

Does anyone know if the Silver Lake is going to be open for Memorial Day?

Two crossings on NHN's Conway branch come to mind right off.

The Betts road crossing, just south of Hayes is blind and on a somewhat steep decline when approaching from the west side of the line. And the Burleyville crossing on NH 153 is also at the bottom of a blind rise in the road.

I went by the yard on my errands this morning and saw the clean up crew still on the job. However 506 and 335 were nowhere in sight.

Yeah. Call it bad timing. I just wanted to see and get a snapshot of 506, then I realized there was all this extra-curricular activity going on.
I felt like a heel afterward. I didn't even set foot on PAR property, and I got icy stares. Oh well. Free country as I see it.

Here's a David Johnson photo circa 1954 of S&E's 44-Ton Number 18 (formerly Suncook Valley No. 3)that I scanned from The Blueberry Express . http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3557/3405674973_1e9f91bd5f.jpg Much of this old, majestic route in the East Rochester area is disappearing. I think that was humor. Anyway, thanks CannaScrews and Otto. I'm planning on early July for a visit to RMNE. And I'll check those links again. Anyone else notice that the convention website is a little slow?

I stopped by the pottery store at the roundhouse to see MEC 506 in new paint, first time for me. Then I realized there was a clean-up operation going on. Did 506 or B&M 335 spill some fuel? I took a picture before I really even caught on to what was happening. Check my NE Rail Archive link below.

Are you guys expecting a busy summer with the NMRA Convention in town? I'm really looking forward to checking out Naugy this summer. Should be easy too. I had such a good time chasing the buggy train last year in April. I won't make this weekend due to a busy family schedule, but I'm sure gonna try to make it the weekend of the 25th.
