Did UP ever continue to run the ex-SP/SSW Blue Streak series of trains?
Memphis to Los Angeles, and St. Louis to Los Angeles.
They held title to "Fastest Freight Trains" for decades, succumbing only to ATSF's Super C for the 2 years that train ran.

Which of these events was the one that permanently severed the Air Line between Pomfret and Putnam? The Great Flood in Aug. '55 washed out the RR bridge in Putnam over the Quinnebaug river. Also the NYNH&H RR yard, and a good portion of the city of Putnam itself. The north end span of the thru ...

What was the name of the uncompleted RR that left the bridge abutments crossing over the old P&W in Blackstone Mass?
I recollect reading that the RR promoter went down with the Titanic, taking the construction dreams down with him.

The D&RGW Aspen Branch is long gone and is now a bicycle trail. We rode it on track speeders Glenwood Springs to Carbondale (end of track) around 2004. Then the rails were pulled up, and the Roaring Fork Bike trail was created, Glenwood Springs to Aspen. FWIW, the old Colorado Midland RWy roadbe...

Wish they do the whole line like this and go all the way to Willimantic. Well, I'd love to see that too, but Manchester to Willi needs more than just ties. Forgive my ramblings, but I fondly remember (in my misspent youth), hopping a boxcar on the RS-3 powered NH freight in Manchester and ri...
