It's about 3 months shy of 2 years since my last post on the Ex VIA Rail FPA4 #6767 that sat on a lawn in Dunn NC. So I thought I would put the thread back on the map in case a new member has joined since the last post, and/or, one of the members who had replied earlier to my postings may have come ...

IIRC speed on that stretch was limited to 10 mph also.

Just after this all started it was reported that the brakes were set at 20% of full brake power. I don't recall ever hearing this. Can you cite your source please? A 20lb reduction is much more than 20% of full braking power. Just so you know mwhite, I am not avoiding you. I've been searching throu...

carroll; contractor/subcontractor cp & mm&a. third party and fob origin is the web that will draw cp into the clean-up and deaths. cp was responsible for mm&a actions. there's a few items to be checked but i'm guessing irving paid the third party who, in turn paid for the oil and cp.cp ...

[[ ait, are we saying this employee left his HANDLES in an unlocked & improperly secured train ...]] Assuming the engineman left the auto brake valve somewhere between a 20lb reduction and "full service", the auto brake valve handle would still be on the brake valve, in a position whi...

I still don't understand why MMA's US assets are necessarily at stake. MMA in Canada is a "seperate corporation". Except the engine that caught fire is probably owned by the US company. Both MMA companies lease their engines so, they don't figure in to any settlement. And I too wonder why...

of course cp is on the hook as well as world fuel. i suspect irving will get a letter soon. Ken, I don't know how you can say that. Has there ever been a Class I railroad in North America forced to pay for a clean up that happened on one of it's connector or bridge route railroads that handle their...

of course cp is on the hook as well as world fuel. i suspect irving will get a letter soon. cp should suck it up and get on with the cleanup, not antagonize the government. the overarching number is the pain & suffering awards for the 50 victims. the real property damage is not as severe as the...

I would take this pollution report with a very large grain of salt, since the news report also states that it was done in collaboration with Greenpeace, and also quotes Canadian experts as questioning the validity of the findings and labeling the report as "alarmist." PBM And I would also...

Anybody know if the engines were moved from the location where they were found after the derailment or how soon they were moved and what is their location now? The engines are at NB Southerns shops in Saint John, NB. The CTSB needed a place where they would be able to work on them and be out of the...

I would disagree that the situation appears to indicate a mistake or omission by the engineer. There are too many other variables at this time and too many other people who touched that train after his shift to reliably conclude that. I believe it still comes down to the engineer. Even if the fire ...
