Good! Now that we've got the color correct finally, can we PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE repaint NJDOT E8 4253 in Boonton Yard the right way? Hell, I'll even help. I did it once - I can do it again.

Wow............ Twenty years seemed hard to believe in 2007. Here we are today, 35 years later. Still some of the most vivid memories of my youth: triple-header E8s roaring through South Amboy on the NJCL. Those were the days.

Here's one that's probably for the ol' timers on the board. Was going through some pictures and video of my screen namesake here on Railroad.Net and got to thinking about a story I was told about old NJT E8 4272. All photos prior to 1980 show her engineer's side flanks in perfect condition. Post 198...

Just watched them roll through Ashland, VA. They look like junk. Both came from the Hampton & Branchville in South Carolina, a now mostly-dormant coal hauler. Both are nee-N&W, #686 and 859. The carried reporting marks for a locomotive parts dealer out of PA (GOMX) before being stenciled for...

We have lost a legend. Ed Kaspriske - Rahway native, rail fan, photographer, locomotive horn collecting pioneer, and friend to all things PRR, passed away quietly last night (2/1/2019). He was 78. His sons have written a truly great obituary: Edward John Kaspriske peacefully passed away on Feb. 1. H...

Moments ago, NS 8104 - The Lehigh Valley heritage unit rolled through the Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, PA with a white line painted through the 'Lehigh Valley' lettering on her flank. Whitelining usually means the end of the line for a locomotive. What's the word? Does anyone know? https://preview.ib...

For those interested, locomotive horn collectors from around the country will descend on Altoona this coming Saturday, May 19th, 2018, meeting at the world-famous Horseshoe Curve, to exhibit a wide array of genuine diesel locomotive horns mounted on specially outfitted road vehicles, allowing full p...

Without knowing something about the unit it's impossible to search to determine if it's been sold. What was it's Conrail number? What number and reporting mark did it bear while at the power plant? Raritan River RR #4 - conveyed to Conrail in 1980 as CR8661. Eventually conveyed to Philadelphia Elec...

I believe Bethlehem Steel painted that slogan on some of their locomotives. While most of the loco's in the PBNE deadline are SW's, I guess it's possible that they may have had a critter or two. Another possibility is that it came from one of the numerous cement plants that operated in Northampton ...

So who can tell me about the small GE center cab switcher I saw being transported via truck and flat bed north on Route 33 through Wind Gap, PA today? It was obviously an industrial unit as the only markings I saw as it sped by me in the opposite direction was a large "THINK SAFETY" painte...
