Re: PRR Elmira Branch bridge in Flint destroyed by truck 6/3

This was the Elmira Branch bridge. The through-girder bridge in Aloquin is still standing. Just goes to show - if you see a piece of railroad history you like, document it. You never know when it will cease to exist. I learned the documentation lesson long ago. So here are pictures from 2003 when I...

Not sure of the "legality" of sitting on the north side of the Rte 19 crossing. We frequently take fast food from Brockport and sit in the public parking lot behind the buildings on Main street. Scott K. FYI: That parking lot is the site of the NYC Passenger depot in Bergen, NY. The last ...

I uploaded the only 2 shots I have of the building. This is one of those places that I am glad I photographed before it was gone.

Don't have any photos of the dismantling on the CR side but I believe they used temporary block stations with an operator stationed a couple of miles away on each side to control traffic when needed. Old & Weary -from my research (in 1998) of the demolition of the bridge...your statement above ...

1938 the concrete/steel bridge over the NYC is really that old? I have crossed it hundereds of times in my trips eastward from Bergen (my hometown). Just after the NYC overpass on NY-33 East look to the North (right) and you will see the former Sheridan Rd. ROW...the trees are sort of bare and the o...

I posted some of my Batavia, NY pictures in 2008 on my webshots site. I have included some information in the captions as to the location of the photo and the date it was taken. The NYC "new" ROW was built starting in 1951 and ending in 1957. The line officially opened on April 2, 1957. Th...

Oh, and I forgot Bradford, Ohio, which was a huge PRR terminal up until sometime during the Depression. Scott Trostel has written a book, BRADFORD, THE RAILROAD TOWN. An interlocking tower, still in the process of being restored, survives. Definitely cannot forget Bradford. Mr. Trostel's book defin...

...There's a Wannick Jct. sign in Maumee where the tracks cross Cass Rd. Wannick Jct. is where the WAB & Cloverleaf mains separated. Now that I've lived in Toledo for a few years I can finally correct the above statement. Wanick Junction actually is where the Wabash mains separated. One went to...

This was posted as a reply to one of my posts from 2005. The short-lived Toledo Central operated on the former CloverLeaf between South Ave and the former interchange near the Toledo Zoo. Actually, sections of the former CloverLeaf are still in place beyond South Avenue. If you follow the Anthony Wa...

Any updates as to the future of the passenger car sitting in the old Wabash yard in Toledo?

The building was there in 2004, on Thompson St. as Charles mentions on his depot site.

The date of construction actually is on the side of the concrete steps on the side of the building that faces Thompson St.

They were moved in June 2004 I believe. Someone should know more...

I also wonder who owns the dilapidated sleeper car that sits under the I-75 bridge over the old Wabash yard (next to the Maumee River). The car is in the now Anderson's yard and it is rusting away.

Well I know that there were 4 tracks in Bergen in the 1980's and the siding to the grain elevator was there too.
