I have a question for those employed by NS and CSX. Has the snow that fell on the east coast over the weekend hindered rail traffic? Specifically in the Baltimore area and any trains running into southwestern PA. The reason I asked; I work in a mine in sw PA. We were told that we were idle for this ...
I see that they're hiring in Connellsville, PA. What are things looking like there? I remember a guy on here that was furloughed for quite sometime. What are the odds of hanging on there? Any comments appreciated....
depending on where you live but want to work cumberland, why not move to markleysburg or farmington. im pretty sure that its anywhere between 40 minutes to an hour drive to cumberland. and if you decide to go back to cville, its still not a bad drive.
Congrats coen on your retirement. enjoy it! its funny that you mention the business picking up. i work in a coal mine in sw pennsylvania. i was talking to a foreman recently about when the next longwall mining section would open up. he told me it probably would be delayed a little due to the fact th...
I know that perhaps this isn't the forum to post this, but I frequent this site the most. Anyway, what ever happened to the Hot Times On The High Iron and "Tuch" the author. I really enjoyed reading it. If anybody knows, let me know.
even though there is talk about "green" energy sources like windmills, nuclear power, clean coal technology, i don't think coal will be eliminated as an energy source, at least not any time soon. to get to the point where we're using windmills, etc. as enrgy and not coal, alot of money nee...
i don't know that i would put something on my resume that wasn't true. if you weren't the safety officer, don't put it. if they find out you lied, you're application becomes a history lesson. what you can include is something along the lines of "during the course of your daily duties you utiliz...
when they do a hair test, that test is suppost to be able to detect drugs that were taken within the last year. i believe it also detects any type of masking drug too. so if you smoked up within the last few months, you may be wasting your time. i understand that if you test positive for drugs, your...
once you complete your training and you mark up, you are a conductor. however, as everybody on here will say, depending on where you're working at, you could be furloughed as soon as you mark up. but some are lucky and are never furloughed. also, the first few years of your career you can more than ...
just moving it towards the top.
kinda figured. it does seem dead there. how about cumberland md or grafton wv?
i had this post up before, but for whatever reason, it is no more. anyhow, i was wondering if anybody has an idea what things are like in these areas. is there a lot of work or are there a lot of guys furloughed? i was considering applying to these locations should they post again. any help is appre...
so far no good. ok, how about the pittsburgh area in general?
i did check the csx website and i know that they aren't hiring for these locations at this point. but i was wondering if there is a lot of work in these areas or are they furloughed a good bit ? i noticed they posted these positions a month or so ago and it seems like they only hire here every once ...
