Regarding passenger service on the Trenton Cut-off, I direct you to the New York Times item published July 28, 1892 (

THE TRENTON CUT-OFF ROAD
Trenton, N.J., July 27. -- It is given out in railroad circles here that next week work will begin on the Trenton Cut-Off Railroad and the road will be made double track from Trenton to Glenlock. This road was only finished six months ago, and was used as cut-off for Western freight. There is now only one track on the road. The route from New-York to the West is shortened by eight miles. The pressure has become so great that a double track is necessary. There is also a demand for better passenger service on this new route, which runs through a prosperous part of Pennsylvania.
Presumably there was some sort of passenger service on all or part of the line early on.
