I picked up an old original photograph of an open-sided streetcar "#4052" marked on the front body, "PENN-HH" on the destination board, "#15" on a small changeable screen inside the windshield, "Springfield" on a sideplate above the the seats near the roof, "Public Service" on the same panel as the Springfield marking, with the conductor and the driver standing on the running board. Here is what I think: Being open-sided I would think it is a summer trolley, the Springfield line, car #4052, route #15, destination Penn Station, and I don't know what HH Means. The photograph looks maybe from the 20's? On the back it is marked "Stanley Mourant, Photographer, 143 Warren St., Newark, N.J. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks

From wikipedia:

It's wikipedia, so who knows, but i'll keep looking. I believe HH is hudson county or hoboken? I'm not sure, will keep digging!

PSCT had several 'open' cars they operated on various lines in summer months, including the #15 Nutley Line to http://www.firstbaptistbloomfield.org/belleville.htm (Photo #2 Hillside Pleasure Park, Belleville, NJ.
The Springfield route was #25 and went to Olympic Park, Irvington/Maplewood border

Very cool stuff there. So sad we lost so much of that system, only a tiny fraction will ever see rail vehicles ever again.

Here is the photograph. I found this in Florida here where I currently live. Weird how things get in odd places so far away.

For what it is worth, here's the same car in downtown Newark.

Downtown doesn't look like that now, that's for sure.

Great old time photo though.

Any idea where in Newark the photo was taken? Market St at Washington?
