Does anyone have the former #s for 5803 and up? I just saw 5803 last week. Thanks!

I know that Norfolk Southern GP38-3 5801 was originally GP50 7070.

Keep searching, keep finding

What exactly is a GP38-3?

Its basically a rebuilt GP-50 de-rated to 2000 HP.

True they are derated and also rebuilt. If I remember right the GP-50's where long hood forward. So the GP38-3 have the short hood. Control stand on the right or engineers side. The nice new seats as well as cab signal and LSL's. Which means they can be used on the the Ex Pennsy lines as well as the NE Corridor and Transit.
