I visited the Canton RR today and found SW1200 #1203 (ex-1201) sitting at the shops, and SW1500 #1501 out switching by Boston Ave. I did not see SW1500 #1502 or SW1200RS #1204, however I did see two new additions to the Canton roster, ex ATSF GP7Us #1307 and #1364 in full Canton liveries.

Does anyone know when the two ATSF units joined the roster and what their histories are? Are #1502 and the relatively recently-acquired #1204 still around or gone?

Answered my own question: 1502 and 1204 are indeed still around. The two GP7Us were acquired, according to a crew member, because of a "need for more horsepower."

It's been a long time since CTN has rostered six locomotives; business appears to be booming ...

Yeah when I was there about a week before you, the 1203 was sitting inside of the shops. One of the Gp7u's was sitting in the yard while the other was switching out some tankers to an industry nearby.

Please keep us updated on developments with the Canton Railroad. Thanks.

As I've noted on other pages of this forum:

As a veteran of the Army and the Marine Corps, I'd wish people would stop dragging the services and who respects and disrespects us into discussions about railroading.

I'm temporarily locking this topic until I have a chance to edit out the non-RR related content.

Ok - I've now unlocked the topic after editing out the non-RR content.

Understand that there are strong feelings on both sides of this, but please keep these posts directly related to the Canton RR.

Thanks.
