What is the railfanning like near Indy? Any help would be appreciated.

I've never found it that interesting. The Amtrak service isn't great. You've got Indiana Railroad for a nice change of pace. There's Indiana Transport Museum about thirty minutes north, and you can ride a CTA 4000 there. Othwerwise it's your standard NS and CSX. Go to Chicago. More trains, more trains you can ride, and more interesting stuff.
