The NS went from Norfolk area sw through N.C. It also
does not have site devoted to it on this forum. It appears
from options offered on RAILROAD.NET, this particular site
is most proximate since direct ferry connections existed to
BelDel and successors.
Is this the place for NS and NPBL , et al?

pjb-While I'm not the moderator in this forum, discussion of the "original" Norfolk Southern Railway should be fine here and will probably get more exposure here than it would in the "General Discussion-Fallen Flags" forum.

For those of you who don't know, the original Norfolk Southern operated in the states of Virginia and North Carolina, with a 383 mile main line from Norfolk, VA to Charlotte, NC and a number of branches as well.

The original Norfolk Southern was merged into the Southern Railway on January 1, 1974.

The road rostered five small 2-8-4s during steam days. Here's one example:

There will be a major book out this year on the Norfolk Southern. Its at the printers now.
