I'm taking a trip to DC tomorrow and I have one question about the Metro: Are fares calculated by when you enter the system or by when you exit the system?

If you are asking in terms of whether you will be charged a rush hour fare or not, it is determined by when you enter.

Don't forget you can get a $6.50 unlimited ride one day pass for all rides that occur after 9:30 AM.
