Hunter Harrison a while back sent a memo saying the railroad is to be referred to as CN or CN Rail or CN North America.
Because it is now a Worldwide company it is deemed inappropriate to say Candadian in the title. Thats what the reason is.

It seems odd that has chosen to 'ignore' CNs' Canadian heritage. Canadian National was an international company long before EHH got there. I wonder how he feels about Illinois Central? Is that multinational? I'd be more inclined to believe he wanted to distance the railway from sounding like a Canadian government owned entity.

If you follow EHHs line of reasoning it would be IC, IC Rail or IC North America. You probably can appreciate why they dont use the last one! LOL
