Check it out!
she's a beauty!
http://www.railfan.net/lists/listphoto. ... 2201_2.jpg
some details:
no, 2201 was not actually a LV U23B.
She came from the Providence & Worcester.
Built new as Louisville & Nashville 2770 in 1974.
then Seaboard 2770.
then CSX 3300
then P&W 2211
now FGLK 2201
Finger Lakes Railway wanted to do a LV heritage unit, since they operate a portion of the LV mainline near Geneva, NY.
FGLK chose the early, Cornell Red 3-stripe scheme (which the real LV U-boats never wore) rather than the actual LV 1974 U-boat scheme, because the Sayre Historical Society is getting an actual LV U23B soon, to display in Sayre, PA, and will repaint in the real LV U-boat scheme, and FGLK didnt want to do the actual LV scheme before Sayre had the chance, and "beat them to it"...(I think that was very gracious of FGLK.)
So FGLK chose the earlier LV scheme instead..
First time a unit has been painted in this scheme since probably..1960 or so!
sweet!
